How NovaLash Creates A Culture Of Support & Success
When Sophy Merszei founded NovaLash in 2004, she had three goals in mind: help people feel more confident in their own skin, empower individuals to create their own successful businesses, and create a supportive community to help lash artists thrive. One thing we often hear from those in the beauty industry is that it can be cutthroat, especially when you’re competing with other professionals for business in the same city. Learn why Sophy is committed to creating a culture of collaboration over unhealthy competition – and how NovaLash fosters a strong community among lash artists.

Community Over Competition Has Serious Benefits
There’s Too Much Business For One Person
It can be easy to view other lash professionals in your area as competitors for the same clientele. But, when you consider how the eyelash extension industry has blossomed in the last few decades, it’s easy to see that there is simply too much business for one lash artist alone. In fact, having more lash artists in your city can help increase awareness of how amazing lash extensions are – which can, in turn, lead to you gaining more business.
You’ll Become Part Of A Support Network
Have you ever struggled with learning a new aspect of lashing? Wanted to bounce an idea off someone? Wondered how to talk to customers about a new product line or service? Creating a professional network in your area can help you accomplish all that and more. Instead of having to figure things out on your own, working with the lash artists in your area provides you with multiple people who can talk shop with you – and share their advice with you.
You Can Get Referrals
Maybe you love classic lashes, while the lash artist down your street is all about volume. Once you both build a solid book of business, you can refer clients to each other so you can each do more of what you enjoy.
How NovaLash Builds A Community Of Lash Professionals
Sophy Merszei herself said lash artists should treat each other as “sisters, not adversaries.” NovaLash’s works to cultivate a strong community of beauty professionals, whether you’re waiting to start your first day of training or have been in the industry for years. We believe when you become a NovaLash artist, you’re not simply joining a profession – you’re joining a family.
Building A NovaLash Family
Our training is built to be collaborative and help you build relationships. Whether you take classes virtually or in person, our small class sizes make it easy to ask all your burning questions, get 1:1 support, and turn your classmates into lifelong friends. Many lash artists remain friends with peers they met during classes, and our trainers often stay in touch with many of their students, even years after completing a training. After you complete your training, you’ll find multiple ways to get involved with the NovaLash community, including participating in international beauty shows, entering our annual LASHoff competition, opportunities to take additional training, or becoming a trainer yourself!
