What’s Virtual Lash Extension Training Like?
Small Class Sizes
Janice has attended other company’s lash courses to see how they compare and noted that one of the biggest differences is the class size. All NovaLash courses are kept small to give virtual students the personalized attention they need. Our virtual trainings are no exception, with the class size capped at 4 students. This means your trainer has time to give you the individual support, feedback, and tips you need to succeed. With such small class sizes, you’ll get a quality education and build authentic relationships with your trainer and classmates – you’re never just a number!
Minimal Technology Issues
Janice was one of the first trainers to pilot the virtual format. By running several small test training sessions, Janice and two other trainers, Michelle Mirizio and Lauren Wade, worked through technology issues and how to translate in-person curriculum to a virtual format. Through trial and error, the team developed a high-quality program that minimizes technology issues. Now, each trainer and student is given instructions on how to best position their camera for classroom discussion and hands-on work.
Curriculum Balances Theory & Hands-On Work
Like in-person classes, the virtual format strikes the perfect balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Each morning of the class, trainers review the theory behind NovaLash’s process and expand on best practices for the specific lash extension style students are learning. Similar to an in-person classroom, students are encouraged to engage and ask questions. In the afternoon, the trainer does a demonstration of the technique they reviewed in the morning portion. Then, students train for the rest of the afternoon with hands-on work. During this time, trainers can see what every student is doing at the same time and offer feedback.
Personalized Training Tips
In addition to hands-on training, all NovaLash courses require students to complete case studies after the class. Each case study focuses on a different aspect of the lashing process in an effort to ensure students that understand the technique. Trainers provide very specific information about what before and after pictures they’d like to see to gauge each students’ ability. Once your case study is complete, your trainer will provide personalized feedback, tips and tricks. In many cases, virtual trainers edit the “after” photo by circling problem areas or exceptional techniques. This helps you see exactly what you’re doing well and areas requiring additional attention and improvement. Students must complete case studies one at a time, ensuring you can incorporate your trainer’s feedback into your next set of lashes.
Business-Building Tips
NovaLash training does more than teach you how to create gorgeous lash extensions – our trainers provide valuable information on how to build a successful business! Taking a virtual course is no different. In her courses, Janice gives advice based on her personal experience and provides tips on how to grow your skills, price yourself correctly, build clientele, and create a thriving lash extension business.
Community
One of the best parts about NovaLash? The community! Classes are led by passionate teachers and filled with excited, eager students. To bring the NovaLash community to life, Janice says virtual trainers go the extra mile to ensure students feel welcomed into Team NovaLash. In fact, most trainers do such a good job connecting with their students that they remain friends long after completing a course.
Benefits Of Virtual Training
Janice loves NovaLash’s training courses because they offer unprecedented education, knowledge, and community-building opportunities. However, there are a few key benefits of taking live virtual training, including:
You Can Practice In Your Own Space
Janice believes that one of the biggest advantages of virtual training is being able to learn in your own work environment. With in-person training, you’ll learn in a classroom, so you may need to work out some kinks in your process once you get back to your salon. With virtual training, you can get comfortable with the new skill in your own space very quickly. Plus, since the trainer can see your setup, they can provide tips to help you create a more efficient workspace.
No Travel Required
Many lash professionals travel to attend a NovaLash class, which means they pay for the price of the course, airfare, hotels, meals, and need to secure a lash model to travel with them. Virtual training allows you to expand your skills without paying for the travel normally associated with a training course or having to secure a model. This has allowed many lash artists to grow their skills more affordably.
