Tips For Setting Up Your Lash Extension Studio
Whether you own your own studio or share a space with other beauty professionals, creating an efficient and inviting space for your lash extension business is key to retaining clients and doing your best work. We interviewed Michelle Mirizio, NovaLash trainer, Brand Ambassador, and owner of Let’s Talk Makeup Studio, to get the inside scoop on setting up your lash salon, creating client spaces, and picking out salon decor.
How To Set Up Your Lash Station
Having a comfortable and ergonomic workspace is key to thriving as a lash artist. When everything is easy to reach, you’ll be able to complete lash sets more efficiently and deliver better results.
Setting Up Your Lash Tray
Michelle recommends placing everything you’ll need for a session on your lash tray – including lash extensions, adhesive, forceps, gel patches, and stickers. Since she uses NovaLash’s glove technique, she doesn’t have to continue reaching for the tray once she gets started. If she needs to grab an extra tray of lashes or an extra dab of adhesive, the tray is close by.
Placing Lights
Michelle uses a large floor lamp with two adjustable arms to light her space. Although her particular brand of lamp is no longer sold, she recommends new lash artists look for lamps with LED lights since they won’t heat up your room or make your client too warm during the service. As a right-handed lash artist, Michelle places her lamp to the left of her so her light source won’t be interrupted by the movement of her arm. Michelle recommends turning off all other lights in your room to avoid any glare from competing light sources.
Creating A Cozy Environment
It’s important to make your clients as comfortable as possible. Not only will your clients enjoy their premium services more, but they’ll also move around less, allowing you to do higher-quality work. To create a cozy client bed, Michelle uses LASHbed covers in white. She also places a LASHcloud pillow under the client’s head, provides a blanket they can cuddle under, and, depending on the client, places a pillow under their knees.
Setting Up Your Client Spaces
Outside of your lashing station, creating a welcoming and clean environment can elevate your client’s experience and highlight your level of professionalism.

Keep It Clean
People love a clean atmosphere, and as a NovaLash stylist, it’s important to demonstrate your commitment to the health and safety of your clients’ natural lashes. To gain clients’ trust and reiterate her commitment to cleanliness, Michelle keeps her sterilizer out in the open so clients can see that her tools are clean and ready for use. She also is constantly changing bed covers, washing blankets, and wiping down surfaces to ensure clients have a happy and healthy experience.
Make Room For Retail
One of the focal points of Michelle’s studio is her retail wall. Featuring Aftercare kits, cleanLASH, Lash+doctor, LASHcloud pillows, eyelash extension-friendly cosmetics, and more, Michelle prominently displays Novalash products to peak clients’ curiosity and allow them to take home their product immediately. Since installing her retail wall, Michelle has seen an uptick in orders and noticed that clients are more interested in purchasing aftercare!
Don’t Forget The Decor
Michelle loves decor and how simple items like mirrors and wall art can make your space feel unique. Although your salon’s decor is deeply personal, Michelle recommends keeping your studio color-coordinated to make sure everything comes together.
