Lash & Learn: Adhesive Drying Too Slowly

newsfLASH / Apr 4, 2022 by Lauren Cuevo

As you work to apply the perfect set of lashes, there’s nothing worse than the lash adhesive drying slower than you’d like. Slow cure times can cause the extensions and lashes to clump or stick together, which can impact the full, fluffy look NovaLash extensions are known for. If your lash glue is causing your lashes to clump, you won’t be able to achieve the signature Novalash look your clients are after.

Lash & Learn More: Separating Eyelash Extensions

In this edition of our Lash & Learn series, we’ll review some of the reasons why your lash extension adhesive may be taking too long to dry and what you can do to resolve it. An added bonus? Cutting down dry time can help you save time, make more money, and provide an even better customer experience!

What Causes Lash Glue To Dry Slowly?

There could be several reasons why your lash adhesive is drying slower than you’d prefer, including:

Your Workroom Has Low Humidity

NovaLash adhesive cures with moisture, so working in a dry environment could contribute to a slower drying time. Not sure what your workroom’s humidity level is? We have a tool for that.

You Used Too Much Glue

Your adhesive should be spread over the entire natural lash so the extension and natural lash form a full seal from base to tip. This allows for strong retention. However, if the extension is dripping with globs of adhesive, you’ve likely used too much.

You’re Using A Different Bottle Of Adhesive

Like nail polish, eyelash adhesive can become more viscous and thicker over time and with each use. If you’ve just transitioned to a fresh bottle, the consistency will likely be thinner than the older bottle you just finished. Lash professionals who like a thicker consistency can spread a drop of thinner glue onto their glove and let it dry for a minute or two before starting, but take care to tightly seal the bottle when it’s not in use and try to use the glue every day to avoid it becoming too viscous.

How To Quickly Cure Eyelash Adhesive

If you want to cut down on dry time (and speed up your appointment times), NovaLash’s AirNova® is the answer. As one of the only patented drying machines in the lash industry, the AirNova is specially created for the consummate lash professional. This go-to tool cuts drying time down to less than one minute per eye – saving you time and giving you the opportunity to take on additional appointments.

Why Does The AirNova Work?

NovaLash’s biocompatible lash adhesives are moisture-activated, which means they cure when exposed to water. The AirNova’s quick-drying system combines a fine mist of water with gentle air pressure to speed up the curing time and provide a relaxing, 5-star finale for each appointment.

Advance Your Skills: Learn How To Use The AirNova

The AirNova vs The MiniMr.

Both the AirNova and the miniMr. use water to accelerate the drying time of NovaLash adhesive. However, the AirNova combines water with air. This powerful combination cures the lash glue more quickly and creates a soothing add-on to your lash appointments. Many lash professionals use a low-pressure setting to gently massage the temples, browbones, and eye area to gently wake their clients up from a lash nap. If you’re thinking of making the switch from the miniMr. to the AirNova, your clients will marvel at the difference!
